Polygraph Test

What Is a Polygraph?

A polygraph is a specialized device used to simultaneously record and analyse several physiological parameters, such as:

  • blood pressure;
  • chest and abdominal respiration;
  • electrodermal activity (skin conductance);
  • neuromuscular micro-movements.

These data are interpreted by a trained specialist. Based on changes in physiological parameters, conclusions can be drawn about the sincerity or insicerity of the person being tested.

The results are compiled into a technical-scientific report, providing an objective evaluation of the individual’s responses.

Our clinic uses the LX 5000 polygraph, manufactured by Lafayette (USA) – the same model used by national security institutions.

How Does the Polygraph Test Work?

The process includes several key phases, each essential to ensuring result accuracy:

1. Pre-Test Phase

  • Introduction to the client and context of the test
  • Explanation of how the polygraph works
  • Formulation of test questions
  • Signing of the test protocol

2. In-Test Phase (Actual Test)

  • Conducted in a specialized lab, with only the specialist and the client
  • If requested, the test may be recorded only with the client’s written consent

3. Post-Test Phase

  • Preliminary communication of the results

4. Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Detailed review of polygraph charts by the specialist to assess the truthfulness of the responses

5. Preparation of the Technical-Scientific Report

  • Creation of an official report containing the test conclusions
